History everywhere

Smyrna has a lot of history.  Yeah, I know what you are thinking…you’ve heard a lot of it.  The air base and Nissan, yada yada yada.  But, if you look deeper, there is a lot of really interesting historic stuff that is just overlooked.  A lot of it is unknown to many and in danger of being forgotten.

For instance, how many people realize that the author Flannery O’Connor made visits to Smyrna?  What about the concrete cross that was one of many hand made and placed around the country by a former coal miner?

In this space, I hope to offer some historic facts that you will find interesting.  Feel free to share your own stories!
